Kathleen T. Lindsay

Executive Director & Co-Founder

A visionary leader with passionate drive to enhance lives and impact  communities and regions through strategic non-profit program development, Kathleen is a seasoned professional with vast project management experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Kathleen has diversified professional career in Human Resources-Staffing, training & development, extensive (major) 

event planning, and executive administrative experience both in corporate  environment and the non-profit sector, Kathleen diligently seeks to positively impact lives and transform communities.

Kathleen has a proven track record that is evidenced with an innate talent to draw people together for common purposes and goals. As a high-impact planner and strategist, she is extremely proficient in advancing teams to success. Kathleen intuitively impacts her community, whether corporate or non-profit sector, with consistent progression into effective team leadership and training. An innovative leader who consistently exhibits a personal and intentional pursuit of fulfilling her own purpose and destiny, Kathleen is determined to touch the lives of youth in the Durham and Chapel Hill communities to effectively create avenues to bring their entrepreneurial and develop next generation community leaders through her Dreams 2 Life vision.


Tiffany Newsome

Vice-President, Executive Board

Tiffany has served in education for over 5 years and has worked with students at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. A distinguished recipient of the prestigious Gates Millenium Scholarship, she achieved both a B.A. degree in English, with a double minor in Education and Ethnic Studies from Wake Forest University, as well as a M.A. in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, both degrees completed by the young age of twenty-five years old. Tiffany’s passion is to utilize her academic prowess and talents to support youth during the most important transitions of their lives.

An accomplished professional educator and global learner herself, Tiffany has traveled to over seventeen countries, and has taught in New Zealand during one of her scholastic journeys abroad. Because of the global opportunities afforded her, Tiffany’s earnest desire is to a bring global perspective to youth and instruct them in the area of cultural responsiveness and develop keen sensitivity to other nations and people in our world.

Tiffany’s work has already greatly impacted many students, both nationally and internationally. With her deep interest in diverse cultures and global education, Tiffany has sought to merge her commitment to cultural enrichment with much needed practical tools for success. She is excited to use her experiences to promote academic excellence for our youth and help make their dreams a reality..

Dan Kimberg 

Board of Directors, Member 

Dan Kimberg is the Founder and former Executive Director of Student U. Dan collaborated with the Durham community to create Student U in 2005 when he was a Robertson Scholar at Duke University. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Duke in 2007, in a major he designed called “Advocating for Educational Reform in Policy and Practice,” Dan launched Student U as its inaugural Executive Director. Student U has grown to engage 550 students, with 21 full-time employees, and $25 million dollars raised.

What began as a summer academic enrichment program has evolved based on the stated needs and desires of families. Student U is now a comprehensive organization that supports the academic, mental and physical health of participants while providing financial literacy, advocacy, and leadership development programs for students and families. Student U has created a community that empowers students to dream of, and then pursue, new possibilities, changing the trajectory of families for generations. As students beat the statistics and succeed through college, Student U is considered a best practice in the education non-profit community. Student U is a sustainable movement, poised to increase local impact and create systemic change, with Student U students and teachers now as its leaders. In 2010, Student U was named the non-profit of the year by the Durham Chamber of Commerce. More importantly, Student U students have won various local, regional, and statewide awards as a result of their accomplishments and their impact on the broader community. Dan now lives in New York City with his wife, Amanda, and their three year old daughter, Eliana. In addition to Dreams 2 Life, Inc., Dan currently serves on the Board of Directors for Book Harvest and 3DWomen.


Nancy Nguyen

Board of Directors, Member 

Nancy is an accomplished Senior Manager at a rapidly growing technology company in downtown Durham. Earning her Bachelors in Economics from the University of Maryland-College Park, Nancy utilizes her education and personal resources to seize opportunities to serve diligently in her community, as well as globally through missions. Nancy is responsible for mobilizing advocacy efforts through tax filing automation across three teams, both in the US and India. Her work with local charitable non-profits include various forms of service with: Embry Rucker Shelter, Compassion International, The Center for Volunteer Caregiving and Duke Home & Hospice.  

Having worked in diverse settings and challenging environments, Nancy believes in the importance of amplifying the opportunities of today's youth by engaging organizations through community-based support, collaborating and exchanging ideas so that together, we can achieve a greater impact for our future generation. Through her Dreams 2 Life involvement, Nancy is excited to work alongside a talented and dedicated team to transform lives, communities and to develop next generation leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit. 

Channing Bennett

Board of Directors, Member

Channing has been in education for 8 years and has served professionally in both the middle and elementary public school in the Chapel Hill school system. Having earned both his B.A. in Education (concentrating in Middle Grades Science and Language Arts), along with his recent achievement of earning a Masters degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Channing brings a wealth of knowledge and academic excellence to the Dreams 2 Life team. Channing has been involved in supporting young students in a various ways since high school, including athletic coaching, summer youth camp leadership, after school programs, classroom instruction as well as current role as a school administrator. His earnest desire and passion for serving with Dreams 2 Life, Inc. is to provide students with diverse opportunities that will further their interests and global understanding of the world around them. Channing hopes that by exposing youth to a variety of experiences towards entrepreneurial and leadership pursuits, they will discover, embrace and pursue their dreams in order to make a positive impact in the world.


Ariella Akeza

D2L Business & Community Engagement Director

Ariella is a professional tax analyst employed in Durham, NC, but has consistently and wholeheartedly demonstrated her passion is to touch lives through her outreach and community involvement. She earned a B.A. in Politics and International Affairs from Wake Forest University and studied abroad to obtain her M.A. in Development and Human Rights from Swansea University, Swansea, United Kingdom. Ariella’s heart’s desire is to serve her community at-large as an advocate for transformation and positive change in the lives of the disenfranchised and less fortunate. As an avid church and community volunteer, Ariella is extremely passionate about community development and has served on non-profit executive boards previously, including a human rights organization. As a highly motivated team builder, Ariella looks forward to engaging our entrepreneurial community and collaborating with local businesses in the Durham and Chapel Hill areas to support youth in fulfilling their entrepreneurial and leadership goals.

Ang’elita Dawkins

Mentoring Program Director

Ang’elita Dawkins is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a BA in Psychology. As anavid learner, including a MS in Mental Health Counseling and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision, Ang’elita’s passion is to directly touch the lives of youth in her community in meaningful and impactful ways. Professionally, Ang’elita serves as a program manager at Boomerang Youth, Inc. in Chapel Hill, NC, another non-profit youth development program. With her extensive background in Substance Abuse Counseling, is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specials and a Certified Clinical Supervisor Intern, Ang’elita’s desire is to advocate for the underserved and disenfranchised youth to transform and change the trajectory of their lives throughdeveloping mentoring programs that empower students to live their dreams and change their world. She loves helping and serving others, and has a heart for youth. Ang’elita believes that if you want to change a community, you must positively impact the youth within that community.


Donovan Parker

Fitness & Wellness Program Director

Donovan is the founder/owner of Confident Athletics, a Sport Psychology Consulting Agency. As an avid sports enthusiast and innovative entrepreneur, Donovan has a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science: Sport Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a M.S. in Kinesiology: Sport Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Donovan has an innate gift as a proven entrepreneurial strategist. He also has vast experience in the non-profit sector as Youth Development Coordinator and youth leader in his church and community. Donovan has mentored several youth over the years. He has an earnest desire to serve youth to help them overcome challenges and obstacles in order realize their potential and seize valuable opportunities to bring their dreams into reality.
